Russian forces reported Thursday that they have dug in outside the town of Vuhledar, where fighting with Ukrainian forces is ongoing, after announcing advances in the Donetsk region.

Authorities in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic have indicated that Russian forces «have managed to enter the town and have dug in on the outskirts, causing enemy forces to fall.»

«Our artillery is working in the clashes against the enemy, which is trying to counterattack,» they have pointed out, according to information from the TASS news agency.

Thus, they have pointed out that now the main objective of the Russian Army is not so much to «attack head-on» the city but to take over the city «slowly, successfully, as it has been done in Soledar and is being carried out in Bajmut.» «This tactic is successful,» they stressed.
