Several Ukrainian deputies have ruled out the possibility that the expected change in the Ministry of Defense, which in principle will involve the departure of its current head, Oleksi Reznikov, will take place this week, after several days of speculation on the matter.
Lawmaker David Arajamia, parliamentary head of People’s Servant, the party of President Volodimir Zelenski, explained this Monday on his Telegram account that it is the evolution of the conflict with Russia that sets the pace in terms of political appointments.
Thus, he explained that the current evolution of the offensive, anticipates that «this week there will be no changes of positions in the field of Defense». On Sunday, Arajamia confirmed the departure of Reznikov, who will become Minister of Strategic Industries.
Mariana Bezugla, also a member of the National Security Committee, ruled out changes in the coming days on Facebook. Like Arajamia, she believes that the situation on the battlefield and the fear of a new offensive by Russian forces makes it advisable to postpone the renewal, UNIAN reports.
Zelenski, meanwhile, has not commented on this issue, while Reznikov assured on Sunday that his continuity depends on what the president decides.
