Iran’s Air Force on Tuesday unveiled images of its first subway base following an event in which Armed Forces Chief of Staff Mohamad Hosein Baqeri and Army Chief Abdolrahim Mousavi visited the facility, named ‘Oghab-44’ (Eagle-44).
According to reports carried by Iran’s Tasnim news agency, the base can accommodate a number of aircraft and aircraft, including fighters, bombers and drones, and is composed of various sections, including hangars, command posts, repair and maintenance centers and fuel storage rooms.
Thus, this media has pointed out that ‘Oghab-44’ is one of the subway tactical bases that have been built over the past few years in Iran to cope with the operational needs of the Air Force, before adding that they could be used for «surprise air operations».
The announcement about this base comes after the Air Force recently unveiled a subway base for drones, as part of a program by the authorities to bolster these capabilities through a network of subway facilities for its Armed Forces.
