Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak announced Tuesday the launch of military maneuvers to deploy the U.S. Patriot anti-aircraft missile system, a series of exercises, he said, «to deter the aggressor,» as the first anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine approaches.
Blaszczak explained that in normal situations such military exercises are not usually publicized, however, in the context of the current war, Defense has «consciously» decided to publicize them in order to persuade the «aggressor» of any kind of action.
«We are showing the combat readiness of the Polish Army,» he has expressed from Warsaw’s Bemowo Airport. «As a general rule we accept not to report on the movement of troops; we all know that there is a war beyond our eastern border,» he justified, as reported by the PAP agency.
In order for the Army to be able to continue with this type of maneuvers, Blaszczak informed that a group of soldiers will travel this week to the United States to continue with the necessary training and then share this «experience» with the rest of the Armed Forces commanders.
