The United States and South Korea have warned about the dangers of cyber activities carried out by North Korea, including allegedly stealing money from foreign entities to finance the North Korean «regime.»
This was emphasized after a meeting in Washington by the U.S. Special Representative for North Korea, Sung Kim, and South Korea’s Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs, Kim Gunn, who expressed their «grave concern over Pyongyang’s disregard for Washington and Seoul’s repeated calls for engagement,» according to a U.S. State Department statement.
«The officials emphasized the importance of raising awareness in the private sector and the international community about the dangers of North Korea’s illicit cyber activities, which include stealing money from foreign entities to fund Kim Jong Un and his regime,» the missive reads.
Officials from both countries have called on all states to «fully» implement UN Security Council resolutions on North Korea and urge Pyongyang to cease its provocative and dangerous activities.
