The Russian Foreign Ministry on Wednesday expanded its ‘blacklist’ with a total of 77 US citizens including governors and state secretaries of state, as well as heads of companies supplying armaments to Ukraine.
Likewise, this new round of sanctions also includes some relatives of what Russia considers as «the formation and implementation of an anti-Russian course», among which Christine Pelosi, political strategist and daughter of former U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi, stands out.
«Once again, for a better understanding in Washington, emphasized that any hostile action against Russia, including a dismantling of the sanctions spiral, will be rejected and will hit like a boomerang in the United States itself,» the Russian diplomatic portfolio has noted.
Thus, the expanded sanctions list includes some thirty U.S. state governors; seven other secretaries of state for Oklahoma, Massachusetts, New York, West Virginia, Tennessee, Washington and Kansas; and representatives of arms companies and agencies focused on Moldova or Belarus.
With this new round, Russia has sanctioned more than 1,300 Americans for allegedly promoting an anti-Russian course at home and internationally. Moscow claims to be taking «mirror measures» to those applied by Washington and generally denies access to the country to those sanctioned.
