Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has insisted Thursday to the leaders of the European Union on the supply of fighter jets, a matter he said he will discuss bilaterally with member states, which he asked to redouble pressure against Russia with sanctions affecting the Russian «war machine».
At a press conference with the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, and the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, after meeting with EU leaders, he said that he is taking from Brussels the EU’s commitment to accompany Ukraine «until victory».
«I have seen readiness to send support and necessary weapons, including fighter jets», he has pointed out, although he has indicated that it will be at the bilateral meetings, which follow, when Ukraine will be able to further discuss the «necessary» dispatch of fighters to cope with the Russian aggression.
On the aspect of sanctions, in the midst of negotiations between the EU-27 for the tenth package of measures that the EU seeks to approve in view of February 24, the first anniversary of the outbreak of the war, the Ukrainian leader has called for more pressure against Moscow. «New steps must be taken against the drone industry and the IT sector that enables Russian terror,» Zelensky has insisted.
