
U.S. President Joe Biden will travel to Poland on February 20-22 to meet with his Polish counterpart, Andrzej Duda, and other European leaders to discuss international support for Ukraine, among other issues.
According to White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre, Biden will discuss with Duda not only «collective efforts» to help Ukraine, but also bilateral cooperation between Washington and Warsaw.
Jean-Pierre confirmed that the US president will also meet with the leaders of the Bucharest Nine, a group formed by Romania and Poland, which also includes Hungary, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
Before them Biden will seek to «reaffirm America’s unwavering support for the security of the Atlantic Alliance.» On the occasion of the first anniversary of the outbreak of the war in Ukraine – February 24 – the U.S. president will deliver a speech in which «he will talk about how the United States has mobilized the world to support the Ukrainian people».
There has been speculation that Biden may take advantage of his trip to Poland to also visit Ukraine, according to DPA. However, the White House has not released further details on the matter when asked about it, stressing that there are no other destinations to be announced.
