
The Kiev region has been the scene this Friday of several explosions following a new wave of Russian shelling, after which the Ukrainian authorities have confirmed that their air defense systems are working in the area to deal with the offensive, with no casualties reported so far.
«Air defense is working in the Kiev region,» said the regional governor’s office, which has advised citizens to «stay in shelters or safe places.» «Keep information silence and peace. We believe in our soldiers,» he has stated via his Telegram account.
The mayor of Kiev, Vitali Klitschko, has indicated that «rocket debris has caused damage to a car and the roof of a private residence in the Holosiivksi district.» «The missile attack continues. Stay in shelters,» he stressed.
Hours earlier, Ukrainian authorities had denounced a series of attacks by the Russian Army on «critical infrastructure facilities» in the eastern city of Kharkov, while they have declared air alert in all regions of the country because of missile attacks by Moscow.
For its part, Ukrainian power utility Ukrenergo has confirmed «power outages» in several parts of the country because of «terrorist missile attacks on the energy system.» «Russians have attacked energy infrastructure with drones and missiles,» it said, before stressing that it has put in place «preventive measures» to contain the damage.
During the early hours of Friday morning, Ukrainian Army Southern Command spokeswoman Natalia Humenyuk had highlighted that Russia «is preparing a plan of action very similar to a massive missile strike,» according to Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform. «The enemy is preparing a missile strike,» she assured, before specifying that Moscow has put into combat posture three warships in the Black Sea.
