The U.S. Attorney’s Office of Shelby County, located in the state of Tennessee, will review all previous cases related to the five former police officers who fatally beat young African-American Tyre Nichols.
This has been reported by the prosecutor Steven Mulroy who has detailed that all previous cases, closed and pending, will be reviewed since the five ex-officers became officers, as reported by CNN.
«This is just the beginning (…) This involves any criminal case in which (the agents) were involved. It’s any case in which there were criminal charges that were filed by the prosecutor at any time,» Mulroy’s spokeswoman Erica Williams detailed, without detailing the exact number of cases.
The decision comes after another young African-American, Monterrious Harris, filed a lawsuit against the former officers claiming that he was beaten on January 4, just three days before what happened to Nichols, reported ‘The New York Post’.
Harris, 22, has claimed that the same five officers involved surrounded his car in front of an apartment complex and demanded that he get out or they would «shoot him,» according to the file accessed by the media.
In addition, the young man has detailed that he thought he was being robbed because the men were wearing black ski masks and did not identify themselves as police officers.
