The authorities of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) have again accused the Ukrainian Army of having used chemical weapons, claiming that they have detected an increase in the use of chemical weapons in the Donbas region.
«This is a systemic phenomenon, not isolated cases. There are no deaths so far, but this presents certain inconveniences,» DPR Governor Denis Pushilin said in an interview with Rossiya-24 TV channel.
According to Pushilin, his Armed Forces have registered an alleged increase in the use of chemical weapons in cities such as Vuhledar, Artiomovsk or Mayorsk, all this after he reported last week the use of chemical weapons in the vicinity of Bajmut and Vuglodar.
Also, DPR experts have not yet identified what kind of chemical substance the Ukrainian Armed Forces are using, although they know that it causes «coughing, irritation of mucous membranes and general malaise».
Since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, more than eleven months ago, Russia has denounced on several occasions that some of the Western powers – mainly the United Kingdom and the United States – were helping Kiev in the development of biological weapons.
However, the United Nations has come out on several occasions to assure that it has no evidence that any biological weapons program is being developed.
