Kharkov military governor Oleh Synehubov confirmed Friday a new attack by Moscow on energy infrastructure in eastern Ukraine, which has caused power outages in up to 150,000 households and injured eight people.

A day after President Volodymyr Zelensky’s visit to Brussels and in the midst of arms shipment negotiations, Moscow has carried out a new drone and missile attack on energy infrastructure in the Kharkov region of eastern Ukraine.

As stated by Synehubov via Telegram, at least eight people have been injured after the attack, who were repairing the damage caused by an earlier attack. All of them have been hospitalized, two of whom are in serious condition.

In addition, Ukrainian authorities have reported further shelling in other localities in the same region throughout the day, including in Kupiansk and Vovchansk, where they have reported another injured person.

For his part, the secretary of the Zaporiyia region City Council, Anatoliy Kurtev, has also confirmed a «massive attack» in the region, in the southeast of the country, where 17 Russian shells have been reported against specific targets in the city, also in energy infrastructures.

Kurtev has described it through a message on Telegram as «the largest number since the beginning of the invasion» as updates on damage and casualties continue.

At this moment, the hot front of the Russian invasion in Ukraine continues in the east of the country, all this while following Zelensky’s second exit from Ukraine since the beginning of the war.

The Ukrainian president visited the European Parliament on Thursday, where he addressed an extraordinary plenary session, before participating in person in the summit of heads of state and government of the European Union.

On the eve of the first anniversary of the invasion, the EU wants to reinforce its message of support for Kiev, which was already symbolically reflected last week, when the Brussels top brass, including Von der Leyen and Michel, traveled to the war-torn country.
