Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi will begin a two-day state visit to China on Tuesday at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, to discuss the state of bilateral relations.
«At the invitation of President Xi Jinping, President Ebrahim Raisi of the Islamic Republic of Iran will pay a state visit to China from February 14-16,» Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying has made known through a message carried by the semi-official Iranian news agency Tasnim.
The two countries maintain excellent relations and the latest example of this was seen in the congratulations sent by the Iranian President to Xi Jinping after the latter revalidated his position as head of the General Secretariat of the Communist Party in October last year.
In his message, Raisi described the relations between the two countries as a «model of mutual respect» in their goals of strategic cooperation and to «promote international peace and stability.»
The two countries signed a 25-year «strategic cooperation pact» in 2021 with «political, strategic and economic» components.
China is Iran’s largest trading partner, whose exports to Beijing amounted to some 12 billion euros in the last 10 months against the same approximate amount in imports of Chinese goods, the official Iranian news agency IRNA reports.
