The leader of the Russian region of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadirov, has denounced on Monday an assassination attempt against his advisor and commander of the Ajmat special forces, Apti Alaudinov, who had been poisoned «a few days ago».
Kadirov, who described Alaudinov as «a dear brother» and «a hero of Russia», stressed through a message on his Telegram account that «he is well» and that «nothing threatens his life and health».
Thus, he has detailed that an aide of Alaudinov received on February 8 an envelope with «a message for the general». «The letter was saturated with a poisonous substance,» he said, before adding that his aide «understood the situation from the caustic smell and took measures in time by washing his hands and nasal cavity.»
«So did his assistants who were in contact with the envelope. The poisoned were admitted to the medical battalion where, thanks to the competent actions of the doctors, one of whom is a professional toxicologist, serious consequences were avoided», he specified.
Kadyrov noted that all three are hospitalized in a clinic in the capital, Moscow, where «doctors are carrying out the necessary procedures». «Specialists have taken samples of the biological materials for analysis and identification of the poisonous substance.»
«In parallel, there is an investigation into this assassination attempt and to identify those involved,» he said, before wishing a «speedy recovery» to Alaudinov and his aides. Kadyrov, an ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin, has strongly backed the invasion of Ukraine and recently called for jihad to defeat the «Satanism» that from the West «acts freely» against Russia.
