The Russian authorities have denounced on Monday that the United States is recruiting members of the Islamic State jihadist group to carry out «terrorist attacks» in Russia and other member countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
The press office of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) has indicated that «credible data» suggest that «the U.S. Army actively recruits militiamen from jihadist groups linked to the Islamic State and Al Qaeda» to carry out these attacks.
Thus, he stated that 60 terrorists with combat experience in Middle Eastern countries were recruited in January and added that they are being trained at the US base of Al Tanf, located in Syria, as reported by the Russian news agency TASS.
«Special attention is paid to planning attacks against well-protected facilities, including foreign diplomatic missions,» he said, before noting that Washington plans to «transfer» «small groups» of terrorists «in the near future.»
«They will be tasked with preparing and executing terrorist attacks against diplomats, officials, law enforcement officers and the Armed Forces,» he stressed, without the U.S. reacting so far to these accusations from Moscow.
