The United Kingdom will carry out a review of its air security after the recent discovery of allegedly spying Chinese balloons over US territory, as reported by ‘The Telegraph’.

British Defense Minister Ben Wallace has said that the UK, the US and other partners will work together to undertake a security review and analyze and assess the dangers posed by aerostats.

The review will be used, according to the defense minister, to decide whether or not it is necessary to introduce changes in the surveillance of British airspace.

«The UK and its allies will review what these airspace intrusions mean for our security. This development is another sign of how the global threat landscape is changing for the worse,» Wallace said.

Earlier, members of the British Parliament warned that the balloons may have already flown over UK territory, a possibility the Ministry of Defense has refused to rule out.

Wallace’s statements come amid the recent U.S. discovery of Chinese balloons with surveillance potential over its airspace. So far, Washington has shot down one balloon and three other unknown objects, which it has not been able to detail what they are or to which country they belong.

In addition, U.S. intelligence services have linked the alleged downed Chinese spy balloon to a large surveillance program orchestrated by the Chinese military, which is why it has already warned its allies about the Chinese maneuvers.

In addition to the United States, China has flown surveillance balloons over military assets in countries and areas of emerging strategic interest to the Asian giant, including Japan, India, Vietnam, Taiwan and the Philippines, according to senior U.S. officials told the newspaper ‘The Washington Post’.
