North Korean authorities on Tuesday unveiled designs for a new stamp collection featuring North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s daughter for the first time, according to samples posted on the North Korea Stamp Corp website, which notes that they are based on a November 2022 event on the firing of an intercontinental ballistic missile.
The new stamp collection includes a total of eight specimens, five of which feature 10-year-old Ju Ae. North Korea Stamp Corp notes on its website that the stamps will be available starting this Friday, Feb. 17.
Ju has become increasingly visible at official events for his father, in a country where no public political gesture of any kind is casual. In fact, he participated last week in a military parade in the capital, Pyongyang, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the North Korean People’s Army.
Moreover, official media have begun referring to her as «respected» rather than «beloved,» a possible sign of the rise of her figure. Authorities have begun asking North Korea’s Ju Ae to change her name, as was once done for all previous North Korean leaders, according to U.S.-based Radio Free Asia.
