The U.S. Government has claimed that the Chinese balloon, from which they have recovered from sensors over the Atlantic Ocean, had tools to collect electronic communications.

US officials have specified that the US Army sent Cold War-era spy planes to track and study the suspected Chinese spy balloon before it was shot down, ‘The New York Times’ has reported.

According to the Biden Administration’s findings, such balloons have flown over more than 40 countries on five continents. In addition, they would be manufactured by one or more companies that officially sell products to the Chinese Armed Forces.

Investigators from the Department of Defense, the FBI and other U.S. agencies continue to examine the wreckage removed by the U.S. Navy from the waters off the coast of North Carolina, where the body of the balloon fell and which has been delivered this Monday.

Investigators believe that most of the electronics are scattered on the ocean floor, according to FBI officials, who said that knowing exactly what kind of communications information the balloon was able to pick up is a top priority.

Investigators are also looking into whether any of the balloon’s equipment used U.S. or other Western companies’ technology, the newspaper reported.

The balloon spent several days flying over U.S. and Canadian territory before Joe Biden ordered its downing on February 4, a move that has strained relations between the two countries.
