At least 73 migrants have died or are missing following a tragic shipwreck off the coast of Libya, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) said Wednesday.
An estimated 80 people were on board the boat, who left the mainland on Tuesday with the aim of reaching Europe on what is one of the main migratory routes.
The organization has indicated on its Twitter account that seven survivors have been brought back to shore in «extremely horrible» condition. So far, the local police and the Libyan Red Crescent have confirmed that the bodies of eleven people have been recovered.
