President Joe Biden will visit the state of Mississippi this Friday to assess in person the devastation caused by last weekend’s tornadoes, which killed 26 people, and where he will announce federal coverage for 30 days for the massive property damage caused by the »superstorm.»
Biden and the first lady will visit the most affected town, Rolling Fork, where they will meet with state and local officials and members of the local emergency services, as confirmed by White House sources to the news portal ‘The Hill’.
The federal funds, according to the same sources, will be used to cover clean-up and reconstruction tasks as well as the management of shelters for those affected and overtime wages for emergency services over the next four weeks.
Biden will also announce the opening of several temporary Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) centers in the four counties most affected by the storm: Sharkey, Carroll, Monroe and Humphreys.
