Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy recalled on Friday how exactly one year ago the »atrocious truth» of what had happened in the locality of Bucha during the first stages of Russia’s military offensive became known and demanded that the »Russian murderers» be held accountable.
The withdrawal of Russian troops and the subsequent entry of Ukrainian troops into Bucha was a landmark for what came to light, as the bodies of arbitrarily executed civilians and torture sites were found there, revealing possible war crimes and crimes against humanity.
»When Bucha was vacated, the atrocious truth of what was happening in the temporarily occupied territories was revealed to the world,» Zelenskyy has said, in a message on his social networks that he has accompanied with a video of several international leaders visiting the area.
»We will never forget the victims of this war and we will certainly bring all Russian murderers to justice,» proclaimed the Ukrainian leader, who publicly acknowledged that discovering what happened in Bucha was one of the worst days since the beginning of the conflict.
