Russia’s Investigative Committee has confirmed the terrorism indictment of Daria Trepova, arrested as the main perpetrator of the attack that claimed the life of blogger Vladlen Tatarski, who was killed by a bomb explosion in a St. Petersburg coffee shop.
The Committee has identified Trepova in a statement as the person who planted the explosive device that killed Tatarski and injured some thirty others. It considers that she acted »following instructions from persons operating from the territory of Ukraine», so she would not be the »mastermind» of the operation.
The blogger, whose real name is Maxim Fomin and was born in the Ukrainian region of Donbas, was participating in a »creative event» in the cafeteria when he was handed a figure concealing the explosive. Trepova would have been the one who delivered this object, according to Russian investigators.
Tatarski was among the bloggers with contacts in the Russian forces who regularly criticize military commanders, although rarely the target is the Russian president, Vladimir Putin. Putin himself has recognized the importance of these propagandists to the point that the Kremlin has created a body to coordinate the government with these content creators.
