President Joe Biden on Tuesday signed a major disaster declaration for the Navajo Nation Indian Reservation due to winter storms and flooding in January.
Navajo Nation, whose territory in the center of the country includes parts of the states of Arizona, Utah and New Mexico, is the largest Native American community.
Biden has indicated that federal funding for the Navajo Nation, as well as for certain private non-profit organizations, is available and will help with emergency work and repair of storm-damaged facilities.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency will coordinate recovery operations in the affected areas, according to a White House statement.
