At least eleven people have been arrested in the French city of Rennes in a new day of unrest as part of protests against the pension reform enacted Saturday by French President Emmanul Macron.
The prefecture of Ille et Vilaine has confirmed these arrests after detecting »violent crowds» taking advantage of the demonstration.
The prefect »condemns in the strongest terms the violence committed today in Rennes during an undeclared demonstration,» the prefecture said in a statement picked up by BFMTV television.
It has also denounced »numerous acts of violence,» with trash containers set on fire, barricades erected and stores damaged. One policeman was injured and two other demonstrators were treated by the fire department.
