The Sudan Doctors Committee has confirmed that fighting between the Sudanese Army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Khartoum has left »a large number of martyrs and wounded» impossible to ascertain at the moment given the prevailing chaos and violence.
We confirm that there are a large number of martyrs and a large number of injured people still trapped in the clashes,» the Committee, a regular source of international organizations during past episodes of violence in the African country, made known on its Facebook page.
We appeal to all forces to stop the clashes immediately and open a safe passage for the wounded to receive medical attention,» it added.
The agency has so far only been able to report at least three civilians killed and nine wounded during the first hours of hostilities.
We appeal to all humanitarian organizations working in Sudan and to the International Committee of the Red Cross and Red Crescent to intervene in the medical evacuation and ambulance of the wounded,» the organization said.
