The UK Intelligence services have warned on Monday that the risk of anti-personnel mines for Ukrainian civilians will increase with the arrival of spring and detailed that the most affected areas are the Kherson and Kharkiv provinces.
»With the arrival of spring and with more people involved in agricultural activities, the risk of civilian mine incidents will increase,» they explained, the British Ministry of Defense said through a series of messages on its account on the social network Twitter.
Thus, they have underlined that »there are still daily reports of mine-related civilian casualties in Ukraine» and highlighted that »the most affected areas are Kherson and Kharkiv, areas previously occupied by Russia».
»There have been 750 reported mine-related civilian casualties since the beginning of the invasion, with one child in every eight cases», they said, while advancing that »it will probably take at least a decade to clear Ukraine of anti-personnel mines».
