South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol will visit the White House to meet with his U.S. counterpart, Joe Biden, on a state visit on April 24.
The White House has announced that Yoon’s wife, Kim Keon Hee, will also attend, in what is the second state visit by the Biden Administration and the first by a leader from the Pacific region, at a time when tensions in the area are at an all-time high.
»(The visit) will reinforce the ironclad alliance between the United States and South Korea, which has grown well beyond the Korean Peninsula and is now a positive force throughout the Pacific region and around the world,» the U.S. statement reads.
The leaders will discuss their joint vision for a bilateral alliance that maintains peace, stability and prosperity, and during the trip will pay a visit to the Korean War Memorial in Washington DC.
