The United States announced Wednesday a new military assistance package for Ukraine valued at $325 million (€296 million) that includes munitions for HIMARS multiple rocket launcher systems.
»This new security assistance will enable Ukraine to continue to defend itself valiantly against Russia’s brutal, unprovoked and unjustified war,» U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in a statement.
The package also includes 155- and 105-millimeter artillery; optically tracked anti-tank missiles; AT-4 anti-armor weapons; anti-tank mines; obstacle clearance ammunition; more than nine million rounds of small arms ammunition; four logistical support vehicles; precision-guided aerial munitions; and other equipment.
The withdrawal, which allows for expedited delivery of defense articles from the Department’s available stockpile to foreign countries, is the 36th for Ukraine that the Biden Administration has authorized since August 2021, the Pentagon said in a briefing note with details of the package.
»The United States will continue to work with its allies and partners to provide Ukraine with the capability to meet its immediate battlefield needs and long-term security assistance requirements,» it has added.
