The Russian Foreign Ministry has denounced Thursday that a Molotov cocktail was reportedly thrown at the country’s Embassy in Poland and called for the immediate opening of an investigation to discern the causes.
«Unidentified subjects have twice attempted to attack our diplomatic mission in Warsaw,» Russian Foreign Ministry deputy spokesman Ivan Nechaev said in a statement.
He explained that through the fence of the Embassy they have thrown «a bottle with incendiary content» and regretted that the police in the area «just watched instead of trying to stop the attackers», according to Russian agencies.
That is why he described the event, which took place in the very center of the Polish capital, as «alarming». Nechaev accused the Polish government of not fulfilling its obligations and not protecting the diplomatic headquarters of third countries.
«We urge Poland to ensure the security of Russian diplomatic and consular missions and we claim the inviolability of our institutions in the face of attacks,» he said before demanding an «investigation of the incident and that those responsible be punished.»
