More than twenty soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have been injured after the bus they were traveling in collided this weekend on the territory of Latvia.
Initial reports suggest that the Ukrainian troops were aboard a coach chartered by the Estonian Army when they collided head-on with a truck in northern Latvia on Saturday.
The driver of the vehicle, an Estonian national, has died, while three were seriously injured and 23 others have minor injuries, Latvian rescue services said.
The Estonian Army, for its part, has confirmed that among the injured is one of its soldiers. The other passengers were Ukrainian soldiers, according to Latvian sources.
No further details of the incident have been provided at this time. The Latvian Police has confirmed that its agents have already launched an investigation to find the causes of the accident.
