Ukrainian authorities have denounced on Monday that within the framework of the Russian Army’s air strikes on the Kherson region, the water supply station for the town of Mikolaev has been damaged.
The Mikolaivodokanal station supplies the town of Mikolaev, but one of its supply points comes from the Dnieper river as it passes through the Kherson region.
«During the rocket attack, Russian terrorists damaged the Mikolaev pumping station (…) Therefore, for a period of time, we are forced to supply water to the city from the Buzka estuary,» the city’s mayor, Oleksandr Sienkevich, has reported.
Sienkevich acknowledged that the work on repairing the water infrastructure will depend in any case on the safety conditions in the area, Ukrinform Ukrainian news agency reported.
In this regard, he remarked that, once the Kherson region is fully recovered, the Ukrainian authorities will be able to repair more quickly all those infrastructures damaged by Russian attacks.
Already over the weekend the governor of the Mikolaev region, Vitali Kim, appealed to residents to stock up on water in view of the threat of new offensives by Russian troops.
