Mexico’s Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard held a meeting this Friday with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken to finalize the details of Joe Biden’s first visit to Mexico in the framework of the North American Leaders’ Summit.
During the meeting, the head of Mexican diplomacy made progress with his U.S. counterpart on the preparations for the upcoming visit of the U.S. president to Mexico, as well as on the details of the North American Leaders Summit, according to a statement issued by the Mexican Foreign Ministry.
Specifically, the Foreign Ministry representatives of both countries discussed progress on the bilateral cooperation agenda, including economic and trade issues and shared challenges in the areas of migration and security, particularly in the fight against arms trafficking.
According to Ebrad, Blinken «is paying attention to all the issues» that Mexico and the United States share, such as migration, security, high-level economic dialogue as well as other initiatives that bring prosperity to both countries.
Next January 10, Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador will receive in Mexico City the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, and the President of the United States, Joe Biden, all to celebrate the tenth edition of the North American Leaders’ Summit (CLAN) As detailed by the Mexican Foreign Ministry, in the tenth edition of the CLAN, the three North American heads of government will discuss trilateral cooperation measures around six pillars: diversity, equity and racial equality, climate change, competitiveness, migration and development, health and regional security.
Following the new edition of the summit, held in December 2021 in Washington, the tenth HLAC will be the second face-to-face meeting of the three leaders.
