King Harald V of Norway has been admitted Monday to a hospital in the capital, Oslo, because of an infection that requires intravenous antibiotic treatment.
According to the Norwegian Royal Family, the 85-year-old monarch is stable, although he is expected to remain hospitalized for a few days at the Imperial Hospital in Oslo.
King Harald has gone through several episodes of ill health this year. In November he was on sick leave for a cold and in August he had to be hospitalized also for an infection.
At the beginning of 2021, the monarch underwent surgery on his leg, and a few months earlier he underwent surgery to replace an artificial heart valve.
