The president of the Peruvian Congress, José Williams, has urged this Thursday to generate consensus among the powers of the State in order to create social peace in the Andean country.
«Consensus is the best thing that can happen, the conversation between the powers are very important. I believe that we are facing a hope that things are going to be recomposed, I believe that we all have to do our part. We must all have a commitment, both authorities and citizens,» said Williams.
For this reason, he indicated that the Executive and Legislative Branches «must do everything possible so that, immediately, things calm down and the population benefits», he indicated through his Twitter social network profile.
Williams has also indicated that the actions of the authorities in the coming days «will serve to calm down the population», since «what corresponds» is that the congressmen leave the House after the elections.
«I know that these moments are not so pleasant for someone who lost a family member, who is in poverty or for those who gave him COVID-19 and hurt him so much,» he acknowledged, wishing hope for Christmas and the coming year.
Authorities in Peru have reported more than 20 deaths in anti-government protests in which demonstrators are demanding early elections and the release of former President Pedro Castillo, who was detained after being removed from office shortly after announcing he was dissolving Congress.
