Swedish activist Greta Thunberg has reacted with irony to the arrest in Romania of former boxer and ‘streamer’ Andrew Tate, alluding to the clue that would have been key in his arrest: «This is what happens when you don’t recycle pizza boxes.»
Romanian security forces arrested Tate outside Bucharest, accused of several crimes including forming an organized criminal group, human trafficking and rape. The authorities were able to prove that he was in Romania precisely after an exchange of messages with Thunberg.
In the first of these, the ‘streamer’ boasted in a message addressed to Thunberg that he owned 33 cars, stating that he would send him a complete list with the respective gas emissions of each of them.
To this end, he asked the young Swedish woman for an email address, to which the activist replied: «Yes, please enlighten me. Send me an email to energíadepenepequeño@comprateunavida.com».
Following this message from Thunberg, which reached more than half a million retweets and three million ‘likes’ on Twitter, Tate responded again with a video sitting in a room and smoking a cigar.
«Releasing greenhouse gases,» he begins the video, as he blows smoke while smoking. «I’m actually mad at Greta. Please bring me pizza (she says to a person not shown in the video), but make sure the cardboard hasn’t been recycled,» Tate wields in the counter-reply to the activist.
«I’m mad at Greta because she doesn’t realize she’s been duped and doesn’t realize she’s a slave to the ‘Matrix.’ She thinks she’s doing good. Someone needs to take her down from there,» she continues, holding the pizza box from the Jerry’s Pizza chain, a hint that she was at the time in Romania.
