The Indian Army has confirmed that it has successfully test-fired a long-range missile with a range of 450 kilometers from a fighter aircraft over the Bay of Bengal.
This test, according to the military, demonstrates that the country’s Air Force is capable of launching «precision strikes» from fighter aircraft such as the one used in the test, a Sukhoi-30MKI fighter, which fired the missile at a ship used as a test target in the waters of the bay.
The Armed Forces have specified that the missile is a modified version of the Brahmos missile and that its first test was carried out in May of this year.
The military also confirmed that an additional version of the Brahmos, with an even longer range of about 800 km, is now under «experimental development», according to the statement reported by the Times of India.
