The European Union’s Health and Safety Committee (HSC) has stressed in a meeting attended by the Ministry of Health the importance of reinforcing surveillance in Europe due to the increase of Covid cases in China and increasing vaccination, especially in vulnerable people.
In the meeting prior to the IPCR (Integrated Policy Response to Crises) technical level meeting to be held on Wednesday, the committee has also insisted on the need to implement the analysis of waste water in airplanes coming from China.
It has also shown interest in carrying out controls on passengers arriving from the Asian country at airports to collect samples for the purpose of sequencing and detecting possible new variants.
Among other things, the recommendation to use face masks on airplanes was emphasized.
The Chinese authorities have launched a series of measures in the face of a new outbreak of coronavirus in rural areas of the country as the big cities manage to reduce contagions after a strong wave of infections in the middle of winter.
