The Government of Peru announced this Friday the dismissal of its ambassador to Bolivia, Carina Palacios, in the context of the controversy over the alleged interference of former Bolivian President Evo Morales in internal Peruvian issues.
«It is resolved to terminate the functions as extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Peru in the Plurinational State of Bolivia to Mrs. Carina Ruth Palacios Quincho,» the government has indicated in a resolution reported by the newspaper ‘El Peruano’.
Palacios is founder of the Peru Libre party, the organization that brought to power former president Pedro Castillo, whose removal by Congress in early December generated a political crisis followed by numerous protests.
Morales has been carrying out various political activities in Peru, which has been described by the current president, Dina Boluarte, as interference. On Wednesday, the Peruvian head of state said she would evaluate Morales’ situation, although she did not give further details.
