Venezuelan health authorities have counted nine people dead and 16 hospitalized due to the ingestion of a liquor cocktail called «slow death» in the town of Chivacoa, in the state of Yaracuy.
«We are saddened by the terrible death of 9 people», said the governor of Yaracuy, Julio León Heredia, quoted by the Venezuelan television Globovisión.
The authorities have sent care brigades to go house to house and carry out medical evaluations to prevent new intoxications.
For the moment it is not known where the drink that caused these deaths came from because the person who sold the alcohol during the New Year’s festivities is one of the deceased.
