The vice president of Colombia, Francia Márquez, confirmed Tuesday that her security team has located a device with more than seven kilos of explosive that led directly to her private residence in the town of Suárez, in the department of Cauca.
According to Márquez in his official Twitter profile, where he also attached up to four photographs of the device, agents of the Sectional Directorate of Criminal Investigation of the Colombian National Police (SIJIN) have detonated the device.
Márquez has shared the police report in which it is evident that this was a new operation to try to end his life. «We will not stop working, day after day, until we achieve the Total Peace that Colombia dreams of and needs,» he said.
«Due to the characteristics and location of the artifact, Intelligence and Security personnel concluded that it was an evident attempt against the vice president,» reads the report shared by Marquez.
Marquez has been the victim of racist insults and other attacks since she took the reins of Colombia’s vice presidency from President Gustavo Petro in early August.
