Ecuador will be the partner country of the 44th edition of the International Tourism Fair (Fitur), to be held in January next year, thus taking over from Guatemala, which has held this position in 2023.
The executive president of Ifema Madrid, José Vicente de los Mozos, together with the Minister of Tourism of Ecuador, Niels Olsen, and the Ecuadorian ambassador in Spain, Andrés Vallejo, have been in charge of making official this agreement between Fitur and the country, during the third day of the tourism fair, highlighting the figures of recovery and growth of tourism in Ecuador.
De los Mozos has advanced that Ecuador will not only be a partner country of Fitur during next year’s edition, but will begin next Monday to «put in value» the South American destination. «As a novelty, the objective of Fitur will be to promote Ecuador for tourism throughout the year,» he said.
In addition, encouraged by this year’s figures, which have «exceeded expectations», after reaching more than 135,000 visitors instead of the 120,000 expected, the president of Ifema has advanced that the edition of Fitur 2024 will have one more pavilion, reaching nine instead of eight.
«We are the most important tourism fair for the Ibero-American market and the one that mobilizes the most professionals worldwide. From Ifema we are proud of this leadership and we want to make 2024 the largest fair in history,» he said.
«RECOGNIZED AROUND THE WORLD».
Ecuador’s Minister of Tourism, for his part, said he was «very happy and proud» to reach this agreement with the organizers of Fitur and ensure that Ecuador will be recognized around the world» in 2024.
«We appreciate the support received and the collaboration between the public and private sector to ensure that Ecuador can go as far as possible. Next year I assure you that we are going to go all out,» Olsen said.
Ecuador will thus take over from Guatemala, which has been this year’s partner country. The president of the Central American country, Alejandro Giammattei, has led the Guatemalan delegation during Fitur 2023 and has left «delighted» with the experience since, according to the executive president of Ifema Madrid, Fitur 2023 has been a «profitable» showcase for the country.
«From Fitur we are here to support tourism. Our goal is to keep moving forward. Investing in Fitur is investing in success,» concluded De los Mozos.
