The Government of Peru has declared this Thursday a state of emergency in the regions of Amazonas, La Libertad and Tacna due to the clashes that are taking place during the demonstrations calling for the dismissal of the Executive of Dina Boluarte.
Thus, these three regions join Cuzco, Puno, Lima and Callao in the suspension of the rights of assembly, inviolability of domicile, freedom of transit, and personal freedom and security, at least for 30 days, according to a decree published in El Peruano, the official State bulletin.
Likewise, the Peruvian National Police (PNP) will ensure control of internal order with the support of the Peruvian Armed Forces.
The state of national emergency has been announced in the midst of the political crisis faced by the country after former President Pedro Castillo announced last December 7 the dissolution of Congress and the establishment of a government of exception, which led to the beginning of a social outbreak.
Since the beginning of the protests, more than 50 people have lost their lives, most of them as a result of clashes with state security forces.
