The Peruvian Prosecutor’s Office has searched this Wednesday the headquarters of the Ministry of Labor in the framework of the case of alleged corruption of the Prime Minister, Alberto Otárola, who is accused of facilitating the hiring of his ex-sister-in-law in the Ministry itself.
Upon their arrival at the building of the Ministry of Labor, the prosecutor Alain Flores and his team were received by the advisor Marcos Augusto Manco so that they could begin the proceedings, according to the Peruvian radio station RPP.
The Andean Public Prosecutor’s Office opened an investigation on Tuesday against Otárola and the Minister of Labor, Alfonso Adrianzén, as alleged instigator and perpetrator, respectively, of a crime of taxed collusion.
The Prosecutor’s Office suspects that Otárola and Adrianzén hired the prime minister’s ex-sister-in-law as a Labor advisor with a monthly salary of 15,500 soles –3,600 euros–, as revealed by the weekly ‘Hildebrandt en sus Trece’ (Hildebrandt in his Thirteen).
The prime minister of Peru appointed Adrianzén as his secretary general, until he appointed him in charge of the Ministry of Labor after the resignation of former minister Eduardo García, who resigned in protest for the deaths registered during the nationwide social mobilizations against the government of Dina Boluarte.
After the opening of the investigation, Otárola denied having intervened in any appointment within the Labor portfolio and denied having had any recent communication with his former sister-in-law. For his part, Adrianzen assured that the hiring of Rodriguez «has already been explained», although he showed his willingness to collaborate with the Prosecutor’s Office.
