The Peruvian Congress has opened itself to discuss again the early elections after it rejected this Friday the initiative of the conservative Renovación Popular party to block new debates in the plenary on the initiative.
With 64 votes against, 41 in favor and three abstentions, the Andean Parliament has rejected the reconsideration regarding the election advance presented by the congressman Jorge Montoya with which he tried to prohibit the congressmen to return to address the electoral advance during the current legislature, reported ‘La República’.
»With 41 votes in favor, the plenary of Congress did not approve the reconsideration of the vote on the agreement of the plenary to authorize the presentation and processing of constitutional reforms related to the advancement of elections in the current annual period of sessions,» the Peruvian Parliament said in a statement.
Following the decision, the deputy of the centrist Purple Party Flor Pablo Medina has announced that she will present an electoral proposal to the Constitution Commission. »We cannot waste any more time, we need to give the country a way out», she asserted.
