The President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, and his Slovak counterpart, Zuzana Caputova, acknowledged on Monday their intention to make a joint visit to Ukraine next April.
Pavel informed that the day before he had a conversation with his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodimir Zelenski, in which they discussed a possible visit to Ukraine that now the Czech president himself has suggested to be joint with Caputova.
For her part, the Slovak president has remarked that the joint presence with Pavel »can strengthen common interests» and give continuity to a »cooperation that can be useful». I would very much like to make such a trip», she acknowledged.
According to the Czech president, one of his main tasks is to remind citizens that the complex economic and social situation in the Czech Republic and Slovakia is the responsibility of Russia, which is to blame for the conflict in Eastern Europe, reports ‘Ceske Noviny’.
In this line, Caputova has defined as a »great challenge» the response that governments must give to the disinformation campaigns orchestrated from Moscow. To this end, she has reached out to Prague, with whom she wants to strengthen closer cooperation.
The newly appointed president of the Czech Republic has chosen Slovakia as the destination of his first official trip, as is customary among Czech heads of state, according to the daily ‘Blesk’. The president has traveled by car as he preferred not to use the official plane.
