The Danish government on Wednesday announced the creation of a fund of DKK 7 billion (about €940 million) in civilian, military and business aid to Ukraine.
With this new fund, Denmark has managed to double its contribution in military assistance to the country, which is in the midst of an invasion by Russia. In this sense, Kiev will now be able to request more assistance and support, which will be delivered mainly in the form of armaments and humanitarian aid.
The authorities have emphasized that the government now has more support when it comes to transferring its »national commitment» to Ukraine in security matters, according to information from the newspaper »Jyllands Posten».
For his part, Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski expressed his »sincere gratitude» to the Danish government for establishing a »support fund for Ukraine», according to a message on his Twitter account.
»This is almost 1 billion in military, humanitarian and economic aid, which will ensure that we will achieve a common victory in the face of aggression and return peace to Europe,» he said.
