At least 17 people were killed Sunday in a coach accident near Madaripur, Bangladesh, which also left at least 26 injured after the vehicle plunged into a ditch.
The sub-inspector of the region’s Traffic Police, Abdullahel Baki, confirmed to local newspaper ‘The Daily Star’ that the accident occurred at around 7.30 a.m. local time.
Fourteen people died on the spot, two died on the way to Life Care Hospital, and another while being treated at Panchar Islamia Hospital,» the officer said, adding that the bodies have not yet been identified.
The vehicle left the city of Khulna at 4 a.m. bound for Dhaka with 43 passengers on board, as confirmed by the authorities, who are already investigating the matter but have not yet been able to confirm the reason for the accident.
