Accidental dropping of ammunition from a Russian fighter has caused a powerful explosion in the Russian city of Belgorod, near the Ukrainian border, resulting in at least three injuries, according to local authorities.
«On April 20, 2023, at around 22.15 Moscow time, during the flight of the Su-34 aircraft of the Aerospace Forces over the city of Belgorod, there was an abnormal descent of aviation ammunition,» the Russian Defense Ministry has explained. The Government has confirmed that there were casualties in residential buildings, but no casualties have been reported, and noted that an investigation is already underway.
For his part, the governor of Belgorod, Vyacheslav Gladkov, explained that the explosion left a hole with a radius of 20 meters in a main street of the city and damaged four apartments in a building and four vehicles.
