French authorities have taken into custody the two police officers who shot and killed an allegedly dangerous man in central Paris on Sunday, as several investigations into both the alleged attacker’s actions and those of the uniformed officers move forward.
Police responded in the 11th arrondissement of Paris to the movements of a man they labeled a «threat.» Officers fired several shots at the suspect, who was allegedly armed and eventually died of his wounds, BFMTV reported.
The weapon in question turned out to be a fake and, according to sources quoted by Franceinfo, the two policemen involved in the intervention remain in custody. Two investigations are open: one for the crime of attempted murder of a public authority, while the second, addressed to the police force, is for the crime of intentional violence resulting in death.
