The president of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, has conveyed his »solidarity and support» to his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, following the alleged Ukrainian attempted attack against the headquarters of the Russian presidency, the Kremlin, in Moscow.
The two presidents held a telephone conversation on Thursday, at the initiative of the Venezuelan side and in which Maduro said he was speaking »on behalf of the Venezuelan people», the Kremlin press service said in a brief statement.
Maduro and Putin also discussed a variety of other issues, especially those related to trade, economic, energy and humanitarian issues, and agreed to »continue contacts at various levels».
President Maduro had already expressed the day before his »total condemnation» of the »attempted assassination, in degree of frustration», allegedly committed against Putin and which the Russian authorities have attributed to Ukraine with the connivance of the West.
The Russian presidency reported Wednesday that it shot down two Ukrainian drones in the vicinity of the Kremlin whose aim would be to end the life of President Putin. Kiev, however, defended that it does not attack »neither Putin nor Moscow» and focuses on defending its own territory.
